On Friday, 26 June 2026, the South African Institute of Valuers (SAIV) proudly took part in the Career Day hosted by Grace Bible Church, Pimville in Soweto. The event brought together learners from various schools, all eager to explore career opportunities and gain valuable insights into the industries that are shaping the future of our economy.

The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as learners engaged with representatives from different organisations and companies. The SAIV team introduced attendees to the dynamic world of property valuations, explaining how the profession works, why it is vital, and the diverse opportunities it offers.

Learners were guided through the different career paths available within the valuation industry and the courses they could pursue to enter the profession. Importantly, the SAIV team highlighted the wide range of employment opportunities available to qualified valuers, including:

  • Property Brokerage & Advisory
  • Property Management
  • Property Practitioners
  • Financial Institutions & Private Sector
  • Property Developers
  • Educational Institutions
  • Government and Local Authorities

For many learners, once again, this was their first exposure to the valuation industry. Before the session, most had little to no knowledge of what property valuers do or the impact they have. By the end of the day, however, the learners expressed genuine excitement and curiosity about the profession, with many showing strong interest in pursuing a career in valuations.

Events like these are more than just career guidance sessions; they are platforms for sparking curiosity, broadening horizons, and inspiring the next generation of professionals. SAIV’s participation ensured that learners left with a deeper understanding of the valuation industry and its meaningful contribution to both the economy and society.
