On 13 March 2026, the SAIV Northern Branch hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Seminar at the Courtyard Hotel in Waterfall City, Midrand. The event brought together property professionals, academics, and industry leaders for a day of knowledge-sharing and networking.
The day began with registration and a warm welcome from Mr Tshepo Makhudu, Vice-Chairperson of the Northern Branch, who set an engaging tone for the sessions ahead.
The seminar featured a diverse lineup of thought-provoking presentations:
- Lulama Nkuno opened with “Legal Disputes on Land Reform: Analysing Valuation Challenges and Outcomes”, highlighting the complexities of land reform cases.
- Jacques de Villiers followed with a case study on “Valuing Public Service Infrastructure (PSI)”, unpacking a 2022 Valuation Appeal Board decision.
- After a tea break, Dr Nosipho Moloi explored “Advanced Spatial Econometrics and Artificial Intelligence in Contemporary Property Valuation”, bridging cutting-edge technology with valuation practice.
- Jade Halalwa presented on DCF valuation for REITs, offering practical insights for real estate investment trusts.
Afternoon Highlights
Delegates enjoyed a well-deserved lunch before the final session, where Mr TC Chetty delivered “RICS and Its Value Proposition to South African Property Professionals”, emphasizing global standards and professional development.
