Mike Spencer was born in the UK and emigrated to South Africa in 1975 after 5 years in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.
He joined National Real Estate where he was a director and started his own company, now called Platinum Global in 1987. He was a national director of Homenet (now Harcourt).
Mike is a specialist in sectional sales and management having started in this side of real estate in 1980. He is the author of The Landlord and The Commercial Landlord which have been published on a monthly basis since 2004. He also writes regularly for The Free State newspaper and other publications.
Mike is a Professional Associated Valuer in terms of the Oupa clause and has been doing valuations since 1980 when he was responsible for assisting national companies review the feasibility of converting existing buildings for sale under sectional title. While mainly based in Bloemfontein, Mike has undertaken large valuations on a national basis
He is a consultant on a national basis for body corporates that are in management difficulty as well as being a consultant to developers on the practical management aspects of new developments.
Mentorship is important to Mike and he mentors local Intern Valuers and is currently mentoring young developers and real estate agents in Eastern Europe.
He is currently working with developers in UK, Czech Republic and India on developments in various parts of Africa.
