Pay It Forward – Become a Branchex Member
The South African Institute of Valuers (SAIV) Branch Annual General Meetings are underway, offering members the chance to be elected to the Branch Executive (BranchEx) Committees, with potential progression to the National Executive Committee (Natex). As such, we thought to remind you of the vital role that BranchEx Members play and perhaps encourage and inspire you to join a committee in your region where you can have the opportunity to make a meaningful change to the profession that we hold in high regard!
The Backbone of SAIV
Since its inception, SAIV has thrived through the dedication of volunteer members serving on BranchEx and Natex. Their efforts have been instrumental in advancing the Institute’s mission.
Ben Sesele joined SAIV to engage with industry experts, stay informed on best practices, and help bridge the gap between valuers’ needs and SAIV’s initiatives. “I want to ensure the industry remains relevant and attractive to new entrants,” he explains.
For Thirusha Moonsamy, joining SAIV aligns with her career goals. “I aspire to serve on a board in the future and see this as an opportunity to gain experience. I’m also passionate about enhancing training programs for unemployed graduates.”
Passion, Commitment, and Leadership
Patrick O’Connell, an SAIV member for over 21 years, emphasizes that joining BranchEx requires enthusiasm, leadership, and a willingness to volunteer. “Commitment is key. Being well-connected in the property industry and having a good business mind are essential.”
Dianne de Wet, SAIV President and a 13-year member, highlights the relationships and professional growth that come with being on BranchEx. “Giving back and contributing, even in small ways, is incredibly fulfilling.”
Take the Lead, Make a Difference!
SAIV has remained the leading voluntary association for property valuers, but there is still work to be done. Members can contribute in areas such as education and training, mentorship, marketing, events, and outreach programs.
